A reflection on God’s faithfulness throughout life’s seasons
The earth’s seasons are a great metaphor for all of us to live by. Our lives go through changes, as do the seasons. We all experience seasons of hardship, seasons of ease, seasons of rapid growth, and seasons of peace and consistency. The beautiful thing about the earth’s seasons is that they are consistent in their changing. We never endure a harsh winter without the hope that spring will bloom again. This truth is one we can apply to our life’s seasons as well.
While we are not promised that life will always be easy, we are promised God’s faithfulness. In every life season, God is there. God created the earth’s seasons, and He is also sovereign over the ebb and flow of our lives. He is the Master of all. In difficult times this promise can give us the hope we need until the next season comes.
Psalm 102:24:27 is a beautiful passage that tells of our Creator King, his power, control, and eternal faithfulness.
“Of old you laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you will remain; they will all wear out like a garment. You will change them like a robe, and they will pass away, but you are the same, and your years have no end.”
Let’s trust in our unchanging God through the shifting seasons of life. Let’s do as the old hymn says.
When we walk with the Lord
In the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way;
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
Eventually every season changes, but in the midst of each, God promises to be there. He promises to be an anchor in every storm, “our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1).
“Because of the Lord’s great love
we are not consumed,
for His compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
Great is His faithfulness.”
